Why does Revit select a drafting view over grips?

When I place a new text note and create a leader off the note, when I try to select the grips of the leader to point to where it needs to point, when I try to select a grip that is near or over a drafting view (not selected), Revit will ALWAYS choose the unselected drafting view over the grip on the already highlighted text and leader.  Does anyone know of any way to turn that feature off?  I know I can tab to select the grip I want, but I shouldn't have to as the text and leader is already highlighted.  What absolutely stupid reason is the reason Revit has this "feature"?  Any help to turn it off would be appreciated.

There is no draw order here so you cannot control this manually.  Do you use the Preselect option whereby you hover over the Text Leader/Note to indicate it (turns Blue) prior to clicking to ensure you select the exact object you need?

This method then opens up the option to edit the Leader Nodes again by hovering and they turn darker when hovering over with a Tooltip in most instances to Drag

I already select the text, but if one of the grips is anywhere near a section cut, revit defaults to selecting the cut, even though I had actively selected the text first.  It is maddening as I cannot think of any reason to have this behaviour.  It is like if you are playing golf on one hole and as soon as your ball lands anywhere near a closer green, even if it is on another hole,  you must aim for the new hole on the closer green.

I am unsure of your processes you state a Drafting View but then a Section Cut which you cannot have in a Drafting View is this a Detail View?

Are you placing Text notes in a Sheet View with a Drafting/Detail View?  If so does turning off the View/Crop Boundary make this easier?

Apologies for all the questions I am just trying to get an understanding of you process as I would create a View albeit Drafting/Detail and put all my notes dims etc. in the View directly and then place on a sheet so not really dealing with Views and Annotations separately on a Sheet.

I am working in a plan view.  A standard section cut has been placed on the wall.  I place a text note second and need to create a text leader that points to the wall where the section is cut.  When the leader that is initially created lands over the section cut, even though the text is highlighted and the grips on the leader are shown over the section cut.  When I try to select one of the grips over the section cut, Revit will automatically pick the section cut even though the grips on the text leader are already highlighted and I am over the grip to select the text leader grip.  Why does Revit ignore the previously highlighted grip to select the section cut when I try to choose the highlighted grip?  It happens with other grips as well, but the text leader grips occur most often.  I would like to turn that "feature" off so I can work with the grips without having to press tab to select the grip even though the text and leader are already selected.  It is probably the most stupid "feature" I have run into in Revit.  I hope that description helps.  I have also included a picture to help you understand.  In the first image, the text is selected and the leader grips are highlighted, in the second image I hovered over the end grip of the leader and it is possible to see Revit thinks I want to go to the section instead of the grip I am wanting to select as it was highlighted first.

Thank you for the clarity it makes much more sense now!

I can only assume that it sees the Text as a priority over a leader as the Text relates to a function whereby you can "Display the View defined by this section" by double-clicking?

Even Pinning the Section and Turning Off Select Pinned Elements this can still be selected which reinforces you point about it always being selectable.

Setting up a similar scenario

In my version on 2025 if I hover and select the Text and Leader and then Hover over the End Node it goes the darker Pre-Select colour and the word "Drag" appears knowing what action it will apply next and then I an move without issue which again reinforces the above.

The quickest solution is as you mention to use Tab to Cycle -Select the End Node or alternatively use the Temporary View Settings to Hide the Section but again takes additonal steps which you are trying to avoid
