USE OF WORKSET

I'm not sure if it should be here in STR; it's a question between STR and ARCH and the use of the worksite.

Some architects asked if we could organize the worksite to help them show/hide elements by material(a worksite for steel, one for concrete, one for Steel).

I can't believe there is no clever way to use the filter on a link and show/hide by filter by material. It doesn't seem smart way if I need to move manual elements in St/CONC, etc... and I've never done that in my other companies.

Is there something you usually do? Split workset by material? it shouldn't be like that it should be a filter by material to make them show or not right?

You could create your OWN filters which would be easier and they then use them in the Views by editing the RVT Link Display Settings - you would need to replay the filter for clarity

Help | About View Filters for Linked Models | Autodesk

It is a lot easier in the Host project to Filter by Worksets in linked models and this is probably the thinking by the Architect.

The process would be would filter them similar to the below for the Architect if your Worksets were in Place

  1. Ensure Link visibility is set to Custom/ Linked View by Link and Filter by Host
  2. Check the Workset name which the Material in the Link are using
  3. Add a Filter
    • Workset - contains - ex: say "Concrete"
    • Type Name - does not contain - Foundation (this is another level of sorting for say just concrete Walls and Columns)
    • Add filter to the View and check/uncheck Visible
