Total quantity in rebar tags

Hello all,

Is there a possibility to add a total count of similar rebars on one host using a tag? I already tried to do this using Multi Rebar Annotation but that does not help in any way since it can`t be used with both vertical and horizontal bar at the same time. As you can see in the attached images in rebar schedule rebar mark 8 shows correctly the total quantity in host while in the tag it shows only the selected group quantity.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @nedelea.rares

You could use multileader tags for this, available for rebar since Revit 2023

To do this, edit the tag family > edit the label > add the host count parameter

This counts how many individual bars you select

When placing the tag, toggle add remove host and select all the rebar that you want to count. When selecting the tag, you can choose to show one leader, or select how many leaders you want to show

If the properties listed in the tag label vary, those properties will say <varies>

Hello @ovidiu_paunescu,

Thanks for the reply.

This is not a viable solution for us. In a project we usually have around 50 precast walls types and each has a reinforcement plan. Each wall type has around 15 different rebar shapes, one shape could have over 60 pieces (ex. U shape  stirrups). This would mean that we have to manually select each bar individually and multiplying with so many elements it`s not an efficient workflow.

As you can see in the attached video Graitec Power Pack Detailing identifies how many similar rebar shapes are in the host element without the need to select individually each bar.  It would great to do this only with native Revit commands.

Any idea about how this could be more done more efficiently  is welcomed.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @nedelea.rares

That would be a useful function. Graitec's implementation probably uses a shared parameter in the rebar which is updated with the identical number of bars in the same host. The tag reads that parameter.

You could do the same with a dynamo script that updates this parameter value. The bars should be identified by partition and rebar number.

Maybe this would be valuable as a general function of Revit, where the tag can also have this kind of "scheduling" function based on certain criteria.

Can you please also add this to Revit Ideas, so other users could vote on it?

Hi  @ovidiu_paunescu ,

As Rebar number are the same, we may need to tags only one time with multi-leader. Then quantity should automatic calculate or sum. If there is a way to do so, please share us.

Really thank for your support.
