Timber framing extension

I was messing around with the timber framing extension and watched a tutorial on it created in R2010. The presenter mentioned featured that were coming in future releases, but I was in R2017 and those features weren't included yet. It doesn't appear to have been updated since then. Any info on this? Not being able to apply settings to all openings and edge framing makes it pretty unuseable. Is there a recommended alternative?

(on a side note, is anyone else having trouble with the automatic spell checking? I was glad to see it, but it's not working correctly, at all :/)

Hi @Anonymous,

It seems like this question was also asked in this post: Revit Timber Framing 2017

Timber Framing 2017 should be part of Extensions for Autodesk Revit 2017. You can download and install this from your account.

Let me know if this works.

Best regards,

Thank you for your reply. I had no problem downloading it. My question was about it's functionality.

I understand, I'm sorry. I'll research on past and current improvements to that add-in. Do you have the link for the video where you heard about those in specific?

Best regards,

Link below. Throughout the video he mentions the upcoming improvements. They are the same issues keeping me from considering using it. Thanks.

Thanks!

I watched it and it seems like the Apply to all walls option was being considered to be included in a future release.

I will bring this up and we will get back to you.

Sure. That was 7 years ago, but I guess it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks.

If the Timber Framing Extension doesn’t have the functionality you need, I recommend posting to the Revit Idea page the specific improvements that you’d like to see in that extension. It sounds like “apply settings to all openings and edge framing” is one of them.

I can’t speak to the 2010 video. Maybe there were some intentions that didn’t get realized. Or perhaps the speaker in the video accidentally misspoke (?). In any event, the Revit Idea page is the vehicle for making product recommendations.

Also, there is the Autodesk Feedback Community.

If my reply was helpful, please give a "Kudo" or click the "Accept as Solution" button below (or both).
