I'm trying to figure out a way to change the offset of the opaque background for text. On the image, you can see that the opaque background extends to the left and right of the text pretty far, further than we think is neccesary so it always ends up clipping more objects than it should. I've noticed that it seems to be worse if the text is rotated.
If the text is part of a label, we can make the text transparent and add a masking region to create a smaller opaque area, however for regular text we can't do this very easily.
Changing the "leader/border offset" value does not impact the masking region.
Is there a system setting somewhere that can be adjusted to make this border smaller? Is there a font that works better (I've experimented with several but this doesn't seem to make a difference). It seems that the offset in the left/right direction is much different than the top/bottom direction, which doesn't make sense.
