Hello,

Our clients want us to model studs in a drywall. I wish to know the category of those elements. Do you think it should be structural columns or structural framing?

I would suggest the driving element here is the functionality of each Tool - Structural Column v Structural Framing

In theory the same profile is used for both but how they are used in the model in placement terms may define which Category you prefer.

I know most would keep it inline with how Revit currently works and have Structural Columns and Framing as the tools and properties are geared different for each application but there is nothing to stop your simply using Structural Framing throughout.

No problem.

There are some Third Party add-ins that convert Revit Walls to Framing (Timber or Light Gauge Steel) but will probably come as an additional cost.

Here is one provider from the Autodesk App Store

Wood Framing | Revit | Autodesk App Store

Metal Framing | Revit | Autodesk App Store
