Steel modifiers not working at all

Hi all,

I am having an issue with modifiers. I am using Revit 2024.2, and trying to add SHORTEN modifier to the structural beam.

When I click on Steel/Modifiers/Shorten (or any other tool of that kind) and then click on the beam it just does nothing...

I've checked if modifiers are turned on in visibility and also tried changing view disciplines.. but I get the same result.. nothing.

Does anyone have an idea what could this be and how to fix it?

I have tried now and it's giving a small blue line or rectangle and you adjust the setting in proprieties.

but you should be in a 2D View "Plan - Section - Elevation " not a 3D

Hi @sijakovM  Good day! Please refer this snip.

You able to see the "shorten" modifier in 3D view, In Plan view if you want to see "Do rectangular cross selection from bottom left corner to top right corner (as i mentioned direction in snip)" you able to modifiers instance parameters on left side.

UPDATE:

After the latest Revit update modifiers are working, but still not visible in 3D, IN SOME PROJECTS. In those cases, the modifier is visible in the 2D view. In projects where the modifier is working properly, it can be added and modified in 3D and 2D views.

This inconsistency is really annoying.

Just figured out that some beams, which are made following the standards to accept modifiers and beams that are not fully modelled as per standard do not accept modifiers.. that is you can apply modifiers on them.

I was having the same issue. Modifiers wasn't visible in 3D view, but when I changed the detail level from medium to fine, the blue square (modifier) became edible. Maybe same thing will work for you?

When placing a Beam Modifier it will effectively be invisible unless you have Fine Level of Detail and the VG Connection Categories ALL Ticked!

You will need to TAB select the Modifier

Also check if any Filters have been applied?
