Can i control circular elevated tank wall thickness with a global parameter?If yes, kindly guide me on how to as im pretty new to the software.

Yes, this should be possible. Create a global parameter. Note that the parameter should be of same type as the parameter in the family. The parameter inside the tank family should be of the instance type.

Inside the project click on the small box next to the instance parameter that controls the thickness and select the global parameter you have created earlier.

The Question is why you should connect a global parameter to the thickness parameter of a family.

I normally just use instance or type parameters inside the family for this. I am not sure how a global parameter would be helpful in this case

Thank you for your answer.

I am trying to link my global parameters with inputs from excel worksheet, so that the main structual components of my model can be controlled with excel sheet inputs (which are derived from STAAD output).

Hence i needed to define a global parameter for tank wall thickness for the ease of access of the variable.

I would advise to take a look at Dynamo. This might be a good way for you to automate the link between excel and Revit. Depending on the excel sheet contents it might be possible to set instance parameters based on excel values.

I use this technique often when needing to set large quantity of values
