Saving 3D view to new file

Hello

I got big Revit 2022 project that consists of several RVT files linked to main file. This project is very big and it is hard to work with it so I wanted to export and work with only part of the project that I am interested in.

To do so I opened 3D view with models from all linked RVT files visible. Then I created new 3D View (using section box) in which only things that I am interested in are visible. I would like to save this view as new independant RVT file but I was not able to do so.

I read and watched tutorials online that should help me achieve this but it did not work in my case. Can this be due to the fact that this project uses Revit Link? Is there a way to solve this issue?

I would much appreciate any help.

  1. Create a Sheet and place a 3D view on it.  The 3D view has to ‘contain’ all of the elements you want to keep in the new file.
  2. In the Project Browser, right-click on the created sheet and select “Save to New File …” (it will take a while as it collects the elements, then it will prompt you to save the RVT file somewhere)

Alternatively you can use eTransmit which has additional features
