Rotate Building Structure within a Project without deleting elements

I am struggling with what I thought was going to be an easy task. With a building structure significantly labelled, dimensioned and tagged, I would like to move and rotate the building model within the project and site. Seems every attempt via grouping, ungrouping etc... once I try to make the move a prompt " elements will be deleted"  indicating all dimensions and tags will be deleted. Too much work to redo all this information.

I believe I have grouped all the model elements with the exception of some modelled in place beams.

Had a similar crisis some 3 weeks back.

2 level plus roof from a previous job just needed to be rotated 90 degrees.

Grouping will not work. You need to save a selection set of only all model elements...if you have a beam system get rid of it asap.

Test it out first on a fresh model.

model some columns with dimensions, grids, annotations etc......then make a selection set only the model in 3D. HAve Open all the sheets that are important (first floor sheet, 2nd floor sheet, etc) so you can TAB into the next view when selecting a HEAVY set of items. Then rotate away!!!!!!!!!! You are parting ways from any reference planes you might be using. If you are using, simply make a roof element or floor element and tie it to it.....reference planes can not be rotated.

Thank you .

I have another small out building that we want to rotate now the property has been logged & cleared.

On my previous struggle I took the hit and rotated the site (instead of building) having less information to loose, then

rotate to true north again.

Really does seem like a obstacle.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

An easier way is not rotate the building but the project north and the site.

I agree on the rotate project north, but if you are sharing coordinates with other Disciplines (arch) then this would be a no-no.

A few years back, instead of having to recreate a total new job that had all the same of everything from another similar job.....rotate > Mirroring > Align was needed to steer clear of another 45 hours of re-work. Some minor clean up but it was perfect and profits were made!
