Revit rotates steel column when adding baseplate.

Win 10-Revit 2022.1

Before I add the baseplate - note the post with baseplate added (didn't rotate!)

Then when I add the baseplate it automatically rotates the post about it's centre!

Any ideas? Have I inserted the post (PFC - parallel Flange Channel) incorrectly? I'm using the standard Revit-Steel Connection-Baseplate off the pull-down.

Hello @LanceHayes5281 ,

does the steel column family is compliant with the fabrication shape:

Help | Supported Structural Steel Shapes and Families for Steel Fabrication | Autodesk

did you use the space bar to rotate you column (never do that for steel element) prior adding steel connection.

thanks.

Wait, what? Every instructor has taught to rotate using the space  bar? If I'm inserting door posts and one needs to be 180deg to the other, how are you supposed to rotate it when you insert?

Hello,

Of course you can rotate element with space bar.

But not steel beams if you plan to use steel connection. Use rotate tool instead.

Can you send us a model with your problem ?
