Revit crashes when duplicating view

I've lost two solid work days to non-stop crashing, and I've narrowed down the issue to duplicating views. Every time I try to save after duplicating a view (not "with detailing" or "as dependent"), the program freezes and no amount of waiting thaws it back out.

I can't use a dependent view because I need different cut planes. The only way I can find to create a new floor plan is to go to View -> Plan Views -> Floor Plan, but then I can only use a level that's already been used if I uncheck "Do not duplicate existing views" which goes right back to the original problem.

Is there a reason two floor plans can't be created from the same level? Is there a way around that? Or do I just have to create a new level at the same/similar elevation?

Thanks in advance

try to install latest updates from autodesk graphics card driver...etc , try to tick audit before opening the file, clear as much as possible in your  warnings and see if these helps. thanks

I tried auditing, and updating both Revit and my graphics card driver. No dice!

What I did find is that if I hit save and find something else to do for about an hour or two, it seems to work. Now to calculate how often I can do that before it becomes less inefficient than starting over 😬

Until you figure it out, use Duplicate as Dependent, convert the Dependent view to Independent view, then change the cut plane.

It seems to indicate that maybe you have something (some element, annoation, link,.. lines etc..) that causes revit to go into spiral model and calculate so long.. Did you check if you have any Imported categories in your Floor Plan.

Otherwise, what if you create  another Floor Plan from a different Level.. then adjust the Cut Plane to be that one of the first one -> and then Duplicate this second Floor Plan.
