Revit 2017 - Canada CISC Structures Beams family - Parameters don't exist

Hello,

We have Revit 2017 64-bit (FR) installed on systems and a teacher told us that there's a problem with structural family files.

When importing the family, it says the family doesn't have the parameters it will be ignored.

The steel beam doesn't change size when selecting different size in 3D view for example.

Revit Content libraries used are from (English - Canada).

Further looking, I'm thinking there's a conflict between the french version software and the content are English.

The files are in this folder:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2017\Libraries\Canada\Structural Framing\Steel\CISC Shapes\

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2017\Libraries\Canada\Structural Framing\Steel\AISC 14.1

I tried SP2 and the content fixes in french (it only updates France folder, not Canada)

Any idea ?

Are you using Structural Connections on your framing families?

If so- the language that you use Revit in must match the language of the content.

More information can be found in this thread:

Hello,

You are right if I launch Revit with the parameter /ENU, it works good.

But, that's not so great solution, we are a french college that teachs how to work with Autodesk 2017.

But, it's strange, in Revit 2015, the content loads fine inside the project. (Revit 2015 French with English-Canada Content)

Why a few years ago, it worked in 2015 but not in the new version 2017??

When analyzing I discovered the parameters in 2017 are in «English» as Height, Width, etc.

Revit wants to translate it with Hauteur, Largeur in french, so it causes an error as the parameter Height is not in the family, it will be ignored...

In 2015, the parameter name is more like «d», «W», «h», so no words that can be translated but more like static variables.

Hi,

I've modified the type catalog of those families in order to include twice the same parameters: One in french and the other in english. It also means the values have to be duplicated but it's the best way to control the loaded content in the projects without sacrificing the ability to create connections with those families.

Let me know if you need more explanations.
