REBAR Length and Overlap

Hello,

Can someone please tell me if/how we can specify the Length of bars available for the project and assign a overlap length?

I.e. I'm making a 30m reinforced concrete beam with straight bars in it. The problem is Revit shows a single bar Length to be 30m (which is unrealistic) whereas I have bar Length of 12m available and need to put 1.8m overlap as per standard.

You can do it manually by defining a 12 m long rebar and the copying it with 1.8 m overlap.

There are third party apps that can handle the overlapping based on your configuration.

Hi @Anonymous

If you are using Revit 2020.1 or newer, you can also constrain the bars together and specify an overlap.

Graitec BIM Designer plug-in has a lapping tool

you can specify lap length, lap type (lap, Coupler, cranked) and stagger lapping
