Rebar: In slab,bottom bars need to stop at col, but top bars go straight thru

Hi,

When adding slab reinforcing, I need the bottom bars to stop at the column, but top bars to so straight through.

Is there a way of doing this, for instance, cutting individual bars after you've used the Rebar Area option?

I'm Judy from Revit Technical Support. I see you're looking for some help with getting the ends of your rebar to stop in different locations at top and bottom. Could you possibly post a small sample project with just the elements involved for me to have a look? Also, a complete description of what you want to happen will be helpful; if you like, you could make notes on the plan view to show me what you need to do and what you've tried. I'll  be happy to see if I can get you an answer to this question.

Hi @kce 

If you're using the Area Reinforcement, the reinforcement is cut at openings in the slab or at interior contours you may draw when sketching the area reinforcement contour.

One interior contour would cut both the top and bottom layers, so if you want the bottom layers to stop at the columns, you can draw an area reinforcement with just the bottom layers enabled and contours around the columns, and one area reinforcement for the top layers.
