Problems placing rebar

Hi everyone. I'm new with Revit Structure. I was doing fine but in this project I´m having trouble with rebar placing in columns. First of all I wasn't able to place rebar in any column, I was having the same problem you'll see in the video, the cursor will become a circle (with any placement plane) and I won´t be able to place the rebar. I erased the floor, and I was able to place the rebar! But not in some columns. Then I separated the remaining columns from the walls and I was able to place the rebar (see the images). Any idea what's happening or what I'm doing wrong?

There is some restriction in the upper part so this option is deactivated and you will not be able to place reinforcement.

You have to make a cut to the column and just place rebar.

What can I do in order to remove that restriction and be able to place my bars?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous

You need to cut a section through the column and place in that section in the current work plane.

To do that, first create a column elevation (section looking at the column side) and then a detail section cutting through the column.

When you wanted to place your stirrup when you couldn't, you were only placing 1 stirrup where you are cutting yout geometry (your walls in this case), try using the maximum spacing option and give it the required spacing, then it'll work.

Do know the stirrups will also run through your wall this way because you are joining structural geometry together making the cover join the wall and columns/beams as well.

Very annoying in Revit but it is what it is.
