Problem with column height and ref level extrusion

Hi, I'm new to this...

I am attempting to model my house.

I am having trouble with a new structural column family I have created.

I want the height to be tied to the ref level and react dynamically to floor level changes. I believe definition is in order, but when viewed in elevation or 3d the height is drawn to the default, in this case 4000mm.

Interestingly, I have noted that the dimensions in the properties panel are tied to the ref level (2450mm shown)

Files attached for reference.

Thanks

The issue is in your column family. You didn't associate the column height with a parameter.

Check this Revit file.

This is because you Brick Column is not locked to any levels so will not adjust to those in a model when loaded into a Project and uses the Height of the Levels as specific in the Family

In a default Revit Column Family you can see the constraints to the Levels so it will adjust accordingly when loaded into the model to the Levels already in place

Within the Brick Column Family - use the Align Tool to lock the top and bottom of the Column to the Levels in the Family

Once loaded back into the Project it updates to the Levels in the Project
