Multi-Rebar annotation problem

Hi, I am having an issue with the Multi-Rebar annotation dimension (see attached image). Basically, the dimension is placing some witness lines on bars in the range, which are not visible in the view. I do not want this behavior as it may cause confusion on site for the steel fixers. Has anybody else had this problem or know if it can be fixed? I have already tried deleting and replacing the bars and the annotation but it does not make any difference, the annotation always gives the same result. I should note that the affected bars in the view are shape code 11 ("L" bars) view on plan and are sloping at a fall of 1:75 so, are not parallel to the view.

Any comments welcome.

Hi Ahmed_Muharram,

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately, I am not able to delete the witness lines. Here is what I tried:

First attempt:

1. Select the dimension.

2. Select Edit Witness Line.

3 Nothing visible to remove the unwanted witness lines from.

Second attempt:

1. Select the range and make all the bars visible.

2. I now see a witness line on every bar.

3. Select the dimension.

4. Select Edit Witness Line.

5. Select any bar in the range.

6. All witness lines disappear.

7. Exit the command and the dimension is restored as note 2.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi @ezcad.co.uk

Did you try choosing which bars to display using presentation options?

MRA shows witness lines on the visible bars and the set extents, when using presentation options (e.g., show middle bar).

Also, you can't edit individual witness lines. When using MRA you are selecting sets (and automatically getting all references) and non-rebar line references (you can dimension to the concrete edge to show distribution and distance to edge).

Hello Ovidiu,

Thanks for your reply to my post. However, I have still not managed to resolved the issue. In answer to your question regarding presentation options, yes, I first placed the bar set in a section view. I then went to the plan view of the base, specified the quantity and spacing and positioned the bar set into the correct location. I then used the Presentation tools to first of all "show none" and then selected the bar I wanted visible. So far, so good. Then I used the Annotation tools to place the MRA and selected the visible bar but then ended up with the unwanted witness lines on bars which are not visible as well as the selected & end bars (See attached pdf). This is a big issue for me as I do not want to send the drawings out showing like this. The only option I can see is to export the drawing sheet to AutoCAD and make the changes there. Not ideal.

You mention non-rebars line references in your reply. I don't know what these are and if they are causing the problem. Is it possible you can explain further please?

Best Regards,

Steve

I don't know exactly what's happening. Maybe you can share a file with me (you can do it in private as well)

Something else to mention, if you have moved bars in a set, the dimension of the MRA clearly shows the different distances (it shows a tick mark for the space that is different).

When you click to select sets and create MRA for them, you can also click line references that are parallel, to dimension to. Those are the non-rebar references. More about that here

Here's the same set, with moved bar, showing middle bar or showing both. Is this the case for your sets?

Hi Ovidiu,

You are correct, I had moved some bars which caused the problem. It is now resolved.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
