Moving structure and grids and all

A new Revit user started a project in the wrong location.

We usually develop our projects on top of an AutoCAD column grid so our Revit files can be exported to AutoCAD in the proper AutoCAD coordinates.

As stated above, one building has been started in the wrong location. How can we move the entire model to the AutoCAD colmun grid location?

I tried Manage > Position > Relocate Project, but that didn't work because when we brought in the column grid again, it was still in the same (wrong) location.

If we try to move things in a 3D view, the grids and section cuts don't move. If we try to move from a plan view, the grids and most other things move, but we get about 90 warnings about elements becoming unjoined.

Is there an easier way to do this?

- Remove the CAD link

- Re-link it origin to origin

- Select the link and follow the image below

- Turn on Project Base Point and move it to the correct coordinates based on the DWG

Thanks!

That makes it pretty easy to move the model to the dwg coords, but it still doesn't quite do what I want.

If I follow the directions as given (very well done, I might add) the Revit model is now lined up with the dwg.

But.

If I export the Revit model to a dwg, that exported dwg does not have the same coordinates as the original dwg. That's what we are shooting for.

Likewise, if I now Remove the dwg link, then link it back origin to origin, it still comes into Revit at the wrong place just like before.

So

It appears I need to move the entities of the model without moving the Project Base Point of the model.

Have you tried to set the DWG export to use Shared coordinates?

Bingo! That did it! The exports fall into the proper place, now.

Thanks again. This is good to know.
