Modelling scaffolding with Revit

Hi All,

Is anyone using Revit to model scaffolding and if so how are you getting on with it?

I currently do 2D scaffold drawings in AutoCAD and I'm considering moving to Revit but I'm unsure if it's the best way to go for scaffolding.

I'd love to hear your experience please, thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, you can download a 3D model family of scaffold. I'm not sure where you can download it though.  Either way, you can model scaffold in Revit since it's very similar to a steel structure, you have to create the family you need though.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Scaffolding manufactures like "Peri" have their on add ins and family for revit scaffolding. Also you can achieve scaffolding modeling in revit with dynamo and API Tools.

But from my experience I recommended to use tekla for this purpose. they have both addins for Doka and Peri and their own addins for form-work modeling. further you can produce automatic shop drawing from your 3d model.

Here is a demonstration of scaffolding families on Revit (BIM).

There is a possibility to automate the design with dynamo and to extract quantities with a schedule inside revit.

Enjoy !
