We currently use Revit to model our concrete, and would like to start rebar detailing in 3d. Our concrete models can easily reach 50 MB in size (large commercial buildings). I'm afraid that if we add rebar to our model, the Revit file will be an over bloated unusable nightmare. Has this been an issue for anyone? How much would the file size/ram useage increase when rebar is added to the model?
Hi @scottjames121 ,
Did you end up trying this? Any good results? I am currently in the same situation and can't find any answer about how fast the size will increase with rebars...
Thanks
I heard it could be between 10-20% based on how complicated the model is. I find that if you have a good graphics card with plenty of ram, it should be ok. Just do not try to pan and rotate the whole model in 3d view with the rebar visible. Limit the view box to the area you are working on while in 3d view and everything works pretty well.
