miter HSS tube to side of another HSS tube

Hello everyone, I don't use structure very much so this may be simple and I apologize. I am trying to simply connect an HSS tube to the side of another tube with a 45 degree miter and weld joint. I cant figure out how to put the miter on the smaller to to place it on the side of the the larger tube.

Use Cope Tool: select a HSS, click on Cope icon from the ribbon, select the HSS to be cut, select the other HSS, finish.

Another crude way ,draw a reference plane where you want to cut the HSS and use Cut geometry to cut the HSS with that plane.
