Why doesn't the Material Takeoff Include the Rebar Used?

Is there another alternative way to perform cost estimation which would include the concrete + the Rebar/Reinforcement used in the Model?

Kindly any Amazing Person Enlighten me 😉

You should use a normal schedule not the material takeoff for the rebars.
You can create a multicategory schedule if you want to.

Ok thank you for that
May I also know
Incase I have two different #8 bar steel reinforcement with the only difference being the length so if I put a cost (X) on one bar will the other bar with the different length be also given the same (X) cost

Thank you

If they are different lengths then they would have different rebar numbers (but still same mark)

so you could see the two different costs (depending how you are grouping)

Thank you for the quick reply

And Ok
Sir May I also know is it possible to put a different cost on two items which have the same properties like two same #8 bars

And yes with these cost and grouping issues of the Rebar, is revit a good option for the cost estimation for the reinforcement or because calculating the concrete is okay but the rebar part is becoming an increasing issue

Thank you

Actually this will only work if you duplicate the bar type (e.g. H8 and H8-2) then you can have the different cost.

Another problem missing the material takeoff for Reabar is the calculation of weight!

If the material spesifies the unit weight pr cubic meter, and you want to calculate the total weight of the rebar in an project, how to do this ?

The material's physical asset has the unit weight info, and the rebarelement has the length..

Can't see that the multicategory material takeof solves this..

one way is to store a "weight pr meter" parameter on the rebar family, but then you have 2 places to keep updated.. not a good solution!

Any ideeas on this problem ?

When i do calculation through the API, i use the material asset..
