Joining structural wall and structural column

@Anonymous Are you kidding me that I cannot use Structural Columns in my Structural project when I want to join the column to the wall without having annoying line between them?

The line between the wall and column means that they are different cast and it is really wrong to show in this particular case. I want the structural column working like the column family. No lines between them!

Both are structural, no cut pattern, both have the same material and both have same base and top elevation.  Coarse mode is showing it correctly but medium and fine shows the line incorrectly.

If elements elevation is different, even with the same material join won't be created.

Hope this helps,

Recep.

Hi @recepagah12

Elevations are exactly same.

Hi @KIMRAMFI ,

I just reproduced your issue. I believe you have to use the switch join order tool in this scenario.

Hi @shefypattambi

We tried that also. Did not work.

We found what was causing the error. Even if the wall and the column elevations are exactly the same but if the wall if `Unconnected´ the line will appear. Sounds really stupid and needs to be corrected. When we corrected the wall constraints it worked.

Hi @KIMRAMFI ,

Great. But I did not face that issue even if the wall is unconnected.

@shefypattambi

We faced the problem in several positions and also with different model. Need to check our column family.

The original problem was with the detail levels. Using detail levels inside the families prevent of using the join tool. Here is the idea for voting to make it work.

Please go to the family environment. In the properties palette>Structural>Material for model behavior select "Concrete".

It may solve the situation
