Is there a way to stop rebar from being selected in a view?

Any view, including 3D, that I have rebar enabled it seems to always want to be the first thing selected. It's becoming very annoying when trying to select other objects as the rebar still seems to take priority even though its inside/behind other objects. And it's really inconsistent as well, like nowhere near the mouse pointer, but it's highlighting instead of the object my mouse is right on top of.

Other than just disabling in Visibility/Graphics, is there a way to lock rebar from selection? I'm looking for more of a global solution, like pinning, rather than messing with individual view settings every time. Normally I would just pin items I don't want to accidentally select, but that's not possible with rebar for some reason.

My current solution of grouping and pinning the group kinda works... But apparently you can't group bars that are part of area reinforcement, which are usually the worst offenders.

Those are the most common ways to prevent selection. Third option is to make use of the Discipline selection.

Depending on the work you are doing switching discipline from Structural to Architectural (or other) might help.

You also might consider using worksets. then you can place the rebar on a workset and hide the whole workset.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

I'm the only Revit user in my office so I didn't even think about using worksets. Good call! I'll have to enable worksharing and give that a go.
