How to change rebar major segment?

Hi everyone,

I've got really annnoying issue with rebar numbers - two identical L-bars (shape code 11) have different numbers because they have different major segments. For example:
Bar No 1:
A=200cm, B=100cm
Bar No 2:
A=100cm, B=200cm
So both of them have same length, but different numbers...
Does anyone have idea how to manage it?

Of course I can fix it by rotating or editing rebar sketch, but I'm looking for real solution...

Hello @mariusz.boch

I think the only thing you can do is rotate one of the bars.

You can try pressing Space a couple of times until it arrives in the desired direction.

You can try something else:

  • Add a hook to one of the bars
  • Edit that bar's sketch
  • Click the swap hooks button (only appears if the bar has hooks)
  • SwapHooks.PNG
  • Hook jumps to the other end
  • Finish editing the sketch
  • Remove the hook

This happens because the system tries to match the bar geometry to existing rebar shapes, so that it doesn't have to create separate shapes for similar bars with different orientation.

Numbering looks at segment lengths also, that's why they get different numbers.

Obviously,  the rebar numbers will not be the same. A normal mapping will tell you the A's are not the same length. One is 100 and other is 200. The values of the variables A and B are not the same. to have the rebar numbers same use the space key and cycle the shape to have them equalled.

Thank you for your ideas, but these are not serious solutions. I mean - it's impossible to edit many rebar sketches in order to change their major segments. It takes too much time. I thought there is something more 'intelligent' to fix this problem, maybe somewhere in a rebar shape family...
