Hidden Linework Showing Between Two Elements on Plan

I may be incorrect in my understanding of the industry standard when it comes to hidden lines, but if one element is obscuring another, that linework would show through as hidden and if two or more elements are obscuring another (at the same point) the obscured element would not show through at all.

For example, if a concrete column is supported on a pile cap that has concrete piles below with one of the piles is centered on the pile cap, the portion of the pile that is obscured by both the pile cap and column above, should have no linework show (see attached screenshot).

Am I correct in believing that the hidden linework indicated should not be shown and if I am correct, how can this be achieved within Revit?

They would shown depending on what Level they are on. The Piles (and probably the Cap) would be on a 'sub-ground' Level. The Column would be on (e.g) Level 0.
