Graphical Column Schedule

Hi there,

I'm trying to make some changes to the graphical column schedule. Here are a few of my issues:

1. I have seen people add lines to the schedule, but cannot figure out how to add them. I have made it so you don't see concrete columns, but would like their height represented by a line across the column they're in and an x marking the blank space above.

2. I am trying to show base plates and footing locations as well, any tips on how to do this would be great.

3. I have used a multi category tag to get more information on my columns. (rebar, load, size...) Is there a way to put an annotation tag on the rebar in a column, right now I am just entering it manually.

I know it is difficult to make changes to graphical column schedule but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

1.  The easiest way to add a line is to add another level to the project.  You could always put it on a seperate workset and turn off visible in all views, such that you only have it turned on / set to show in the column schedule.

Also, you can just draw a detail line in the sheet view.

Previously I have drawn the detail line in the sheet view, and aligned it with the elevation tag within the column schedule itself.

2.  Base plates will show in the column schedule if you model all the base plates and create your base plate family from a column family.  I have used this method to show and tag all base plates in the column schedule.  We have never shown footings in the column schedule so I've never taken it that far.

3.  Sorry, I still manually input rebar etc by custom column parameters for the column schedule.  Maybe someone else has a solution for this....

Thank you for your response, sheet view was the way to go for lines!

I did not expect to be able to label rebar automatically, I was just hopeful.

Thanks again!

You do NOT have to model base plates for them to show up in the Graphical Column Schedule!! There is an option when you place a column called "Base Connection". This is an annotation symbol which is defined in the Structural Settings dialog box. If you want to tag base plates in the graphical column schedule I would rather make some new Shared Parameters with a custom tag. Much simpler than modeling the base plates as columns!

Can you set the Base Connection parameter later somehow? The option is there when you place a column but not after....
