Generic annotation family nested in structural framing model family not showing up

Hi everyone,

 

I'm trying to combine a 2D detail annotation into a 3D model family but the problem is that my 2D text indication always seems to vanish when I load it into my project.

 

For example:

This is a generic annotation loaded into a structural framing family.

It has visibility parameters and all for certain purposes of detailing but they never appear when loaded.

Is the Family/Annotation set as Shared within the Family?

As its Structural In discipline this could also relate to

no, because Revit does not allow shared detail parameters into 3D model families

It only works in plan view.  

It is not a great idea to embed annotations in a model family since they will show (when they do) everywhere, every scale, and turning them off is a pain.

 

Use tags instead.

Well, they are all based on instance parameter visibility settings so that would be fine (if it worked)

No they are not fine. Instance visibility parameters are controlling NOT per view, but globally.

What are you talking about?

It's instance, not type.

 

See example:

Same detail - Different views and other parameters checked on or off.

Next example : Same beam, one was given 2 stiffeners checks, the other none:

in this last example I checked another one for the same beam

Now if this would also work to bring in text annotations I could make my details soo much faster.

Now I always have to copy my detail annotations ON my 3D model details.

It would be much safer and faster to just utilise my annotations in the 3D model objects.

You turn one instance off via a parameter, it is off in every view. Got it?

ofcourse, every detail is different

Sometimes the floor bears onto the left side of the beam, sometimes right or both and we need to adjust every detail to every situation. This is what we want.

Sometimes a beam gets connected on the left side and the perpendicular beam needs stiffeners in that situation.

Thats why I need all those parameters to adjust them to every situation.

 

All I need now is text with it.

This is an example of some details per beam. These are all details with visibility parameters on or off and as you can see they are not all the same per view because they are instance parameters, not type.

Do you show the same annotation on site plan, plan, detail, which have different scales altogether?  Tell me how you turn off the annotation for one beam in one view and leave it on for another view.

See attached video. Do know this is an example with a detail component copied on top of a structural framing model.

What I want to achieve is that same detail component model INSIDE the 3D model family.

So far this only worked for the looks, but it does not work for the text annotations.

Isn't a sheet with smaller scale views (1:200 for instance) swamped with a bunch of annotations that you can't turn off and they covering other model elements?

Why would I need a plan with scale 1:200? I work for structural engineers making reinforcement details

Revit is a universal software serving a variety of audience, not only structural detailers who expecting a Revit family would work the same as an AutoCAD block with attributes.

We've just encountered a serious problem with a project where all the rebar detailing was modelled and annotated.

Now the architect just decided to adjust a level with 10cm. And now all our details are all messed up.

It would again be very helpfull if generic annotations could be included inside a model family, so these would also adjust to the changed level.
