Free Form Rebar - Realistic Bending Detail

Hi,

I have a curved rebar like the below picture. Is there a way that I can show 90deg hooks in plan view?

Revit version is 2025.

I also attached my Revit file. Thanks.

The only way i can see of achieving this is to use an isometric View for the 3D Shape in the Bending Detail

Hi @jay_colcombe 👋

I tried to match the setting like yours, but still it's not showing the hooks 🙄🤔

I’m away from my PC for the rest of the day, I’m not sure you need free-form rebar so try using the curved rebar shape rather than free-form.

I will take a look at the file tomorrow

Thank a lot.

I tried to use the sketch tool too, but the rebar distribution plane wasn't created correctly.

If you use the Automatic curved shape you don’t need to sketch it’s in the standard shape Library you need to be in a 2 D view Plan View is best and it will follow the wall curve!

It can be a workaround.

The only issue is the distribution plane:

The other 2 options (Parallel to cover - perpendicular to cover) also don't yield correct result.

I understand the issue you are facing as regards placing using a Standard Shape!  The only workaround would be to use 3 individual Standard shapes and place them individually

As regards the Free-form Bending Detail this is not working as expected and i think there is an issue as when trying to turn on Hook Lengths in the Properties you get the following warning as it cannot create them which would indicate that something is not right here!

Thanks for the guidance Jay, I genuinely appreciate it 🙏

I will probably keep using the first workaround. Thank goodness I don't have many curved beams in the current project 😅

Thanks again.
