hi, i am using revit extension for reinforcement , in the extension there is no option for floor so when i try to add manually and go for selecting the steel shape revit did not respond .
What extension are you using?

When you say that Revit did not respond do you mean that the Revit froze/crashed or you just weren't able to make the selection of the steel shape?
