Floor Hatches Transparent over Model Lines

Good Morning,

I am a recent designer graduate and a novice.

I have created a furniture plan (Student Revit 2017) using model lines. When I inserted floors, they are showing on top of the furniture. Is there a way to fix this? I am the only one who knows how to use Revit (I know, I know, it's a little scary), so I don't have anyone to ask. I am attaching a picture of what is happening.

Step-by-step would be very helpful and screenshots even more. I have looked online for "fixes", but I don't have Revit Architecture and plain Revit does not seem to have the Coordination option that I have seen mentioned.

Is there a way to "fill" the model lines? The least time-intensive method would be best since my boss wants it this afternoon, but if I need to redraw it in a different way, I will do what needs to be done.

Thanks so much for your suggestions and help.

change the visual style to hidden lines instead of wire frame.

You created the furniture suing just model lines so that is the expected result.  You should have created them as families, with either 3d shapes or 2d masking regions so that they will cover the floor patterns when they are placed on top of the floor.

Now, I expect you won't have time to fix them that way.  A dirty fix for the time being is

- Go to Architectural tab and click on the small arrow below Component, and Model In-Place, choose Furniture category

- Go to Annotate tab and draw masking regions by picking the model lines on the background.  When done click Finish Model.

Then our furniture will mask the floor pattern properly.

p/s:  don't skip the model in-place step to draw the masking regions directly on your plan.

Hello Eng,

Thank you for your reply, but it did not work, at least in my Revit version. Before I received a response from anyone, I just started creating new shapes with Annotate>Region>Masking Region. It's doing okay, but I can see there will be a problem when getting furniture to show up on the rugs.

Thanks again for trying.

Dear ToanDN,

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I sincerely appreciate your help. Before I received a reply, I was going into the project and individually creating a mask for each item. This is so much quicker! After I get this part completed. I am going to work at home and do it "right", using families. I will go on YouTube and learn it correctly!

For you to take time out of your day to help a novice is so commendable. You've made my day and I sincerely hope you can "feel" the good vibes coming through the computer TO you.

Sincerely,
