Final Structural Drawing Presentation

OK so I've built my model.  Now I need to add it to sheets to print.  Traditionally building plan, elevation and section drawings are shown in single line with small sections to indicate member orientation, like column flanges or webs in profile or channel or angle size to indicate direction of Toe.  I know I can choose Coarse mode in the views but one thing I noticed is the column base and cap plates disappear and are replaced by a small circle.  Is there a way to change this to show a single line at the bottom of the base plate or top of cap plate?  What is the easiest way to show the small sections to indicate orientation of members.

I know it would be easier to just show the framing in 3D but depending on the scale of the drawing, the 3D views tend to get too heavy.

Hello,

I think you can probably just drawing a detail line maybe

use (wide lines) to represent the missing cap plate or bottom plate symbolically.

Maybe the first responder meant similar thing.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

So basically what you are saying is I have to redraw portions of the drawing in 2D.

Maybe im not understanding your question correctly.

You only have to "draw" the missing cap plate in coarse view, which is only a small section of wide lines ?

Sorry if I misinterrepretate your question.

Steel connection components are not traditional Revit families, thus you can control how they show in Coarse and Medium detail levels.  Either create you own steel connection families with an unique presentation for each detail level, or resort to using detail components to show them on Coarse views.

My Workaround for that is I made a parametric Baseplate Family and put it under Structural Columns for easy placement at grids and I set my view to coarse and under Visibility Graphics I set the detail level for a column to Fine. Resulting in Bemas and Framing being Coarse And Columns are Fine.Structural Rep.PNG
