Filter/Hide Roof Joists?

Looking for help when modeling and setting up framing plans, where there are roofs that it would be nice to only show them on one plan but they show up on 2 plans because of the placement/view range. For example, a gabled attic like below, a pretty common framing style. I'd like to show the flat Floor framing on the "Third Floor Framing Plan", then show the Attic/Roof framing on the "Roof Framing Plan".

Since the beam system and joists all cross into/below the 3rd floor framing plan, how do you folks hide the Rafters from Above? View Range or Plan Region don't seem to be an answer.

I've set up a view filter like below, where if a joist has an end level offset higher than the current level, it should hide, it gets hidden.

That works ok, but I want to see if anyone else has a better idea. I hate doing the actual Hide Element in View without a way of calling it back easily, and I don't want to get in to worksets, so your help would be appreciated!

I think this is the most feasible way of doing it to ensure control other then hide in view?

Thanks Jay, if you're saying this is pretty much the way of things then I'll accept the solution. I was just hoping there was some other way for Revit to recognize and hide things a bit differently.
