Export analytical model to CIS/2

Hello everyone,

Today I have a simple but very important doubts, how can I export my analytical model from Revit to CIS/2 to use it in a structural analysis software.

From 2009 to 2015 we had Revit Extension with this ability but for 2016 we have no Revit Extensions. I used Advance Steel Extensions but it looks like it only exports a model for steel detailing and not the analytical model for structural design.

Is there any solution or should I say goodbye to using the analytical model from Revit.

Thanks and regards.

Hi Saul

To which program do you want to export model in CIS/2  format?

Many structural calculation sofware have direct links or Revit addons to import analytical models directly.

Hi Rafal,

Especifically I need to export the model to CIS/2 to import it into Staad.Pro.

But the comment would be that, according to AISC, the format CIS/2 is an "universal" format for sharing steel buildings information, so the software being used should not make difference.

Anyway, if I can import it to Staad.Pro, that would solve my situation.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards.

Hi Rafal, thank you for your reply.

Yes, I saw this add like 7 years ago and I think this kind of solution will have to be the one to follow (if this tool is updated to the last version of Revit, version after version). Obviously I was after the same process of previous years using the useful Revit Tools or CIS/2 Import/Export, my complain is like why to change something useful for something not useful. Anyway, I'll give it a shot and see how a paid third-party software works.

Thanks again.

Regards.
