Exploding DXF or DWG file error

An engineer sent me a dxf of a simple base plate detail that they had made from STAAD.  I inserted the dxf (and tried dwg) into Revit and I want to explode it to delete some things.

I keep getting the error "Import contained some 3D data or points which can't be exploded", why?

This is just a simple dxf exported from the design program, I don't know why Revit things there are 3D objects involved in this.

Any solutions?

I found my answer, the dxf was some sort of 3d that I couldn't tell.  I had to use the FLATTEN command in AutoCAD then I could insert it and explode it like I needed.

I think you might find some additional problems with exploding an autocad file in a revit project. I would recommend against doing this. You will generate additional linetypes, and non native revit geometry. I would suggest in future you insert any further details to a detail component family, trace over what you need and delete the import. Than insert that into your project.
