Error when placing beam system

I have a large project and I have placed beam systems throughout it months ago.  Now seems I cannot place them and I get this warning: The constraints of the sketch defining the highlighted element cannot be satisfied.

Google results pertain to placing floors or slabs.

No clue what the issue is

How did you place the beam system?

did you sketch the boundary, use pick lines or pick supports?

I have used all three methods you listed and all three result in that same error.

I use reference planes when sloping roof members.  So I deleted one named ref plane and replaced it.  Now it seems to work fine.  I have never heard of a ref plane becoming corrupt but who knows?
