Elements duplicate with TSD import

Started a model in revit, imported it to TSD, made no changes (except added some new elements), then imported that back into the existing revit model, but instead of just updating the elements, all the elements just get duplicated at the exact same positions. This has been driving me mad, and now all of a sudden I can't replicate it, but I'm dying to know what was going on so that if I run into it again it won't be an issue- anyone got any ideas?

During the integration process there should an option to Update rather than create new which is the only thing I can think of here.

I know there are new ways of working due to Revit 2023 and Physical and Analytical representation for Structural Models in Revit so it may be worth delving down into the Tekla Integrator to see if there is a setting for this new process?
