Hi All,
I've been looking for a way to get Revit to show hidden lines when making drafting views, and just discovered the button for Show Hidden Lines by Element, which is an OK solution but I have a few things I'd really like to improve for other users in my office. I've been using a filtered parameter for 50% transparency to show elements behind, but folks would like to use hidden lines if possible.
1. Is there any way to trigger/tag/filter on a parameter such that Revit will know to make all elements in the drafting view show as hidden behind an element? See below screenshot. Obviously I have a few items that are showing as hidden behind, but not the filled region in the top left corner. If I wanted to make that show hidden lines, I'd need to click through the prompts to show hidden lines 1 element at a time. Any way to make that a universal thing? I could make a dynamo graph to make that happen but would like to make it automatic/ a filtered parameter so I don't have to get other users on board with Dynamo.
2. Is there a way to change/determine the style of the hidden line that shows up behind an element? I can't figure out where a drafting view gets a hidden line style to draw from
3. Is there a way to tell that the Show Hidden Lines by Element is acting on an element in the view? It took me forever to figure out how this was even happening
4. Is there some other way that people automatically generate hidden lines behind elements that is more streamlined than one item at a time? Seems really slow. I can't figure out if there's some magic setting over in my drafting view properties that would let me see hidden lines on all elements.
