default 3D view issue

Has anyone experienced an issue with the default 3D view?
I have a master file that has linked a few models of all buildings on site. The file itself therefore is only a few MB in size. Since yesterday I'm having an issue with the default 3D view. Everytime I try to open it, Revit will not display anything, freezes and crashes. I tried to delete the view and recreate it; audit, remove local files, save it as a new central model. Nothing seems to be working.

Some troubleshooting:

-Start a new project and link the files and see if you still get those issues

-Try to open the individual (linked) files and  see if you can create 3d views there. Maybe it is something in one of the linked files.

-Check the project on a different computer and see if you have the same issues

-Besides updates for Revit also look for updates for your graphics card.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

i had a similar issue with a model with A LOT of links. the issue with the view was set to realistic with shadows on and the computer just wigged out.

try this....

  • in the project browser, select the view (don't double click)
  • select Graphics Display Options
  • change the Visual Style to Wireframe from the Project browser.

then try to open the view and see if the view opens. that at least allowed us to open the view in our file....

thanks guys.
I'm not 100% certain what it was. I purged one of the linked models that was updated last week and that seemed to solve the issue. (as well there was a background windows update so maybe it was because of that as well )
