Cut topography with a Building

Hi!

I am working on a project where the topography intercepts with the building.

What I want to do is to cut the topography so that it fits with the shape of the building. Is it possible?

If not, how to made a tunnel in Revit with the topography?

Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks.

You can use a Building PAD the shape of the building and it will cut the hole that you need.

Find the tool under Massing & Site

The problem with the building pad is that it cuts all of the topography in the top of the pad. I have a kind of a tunnel, so I want some topography above my building, i just don't want the interceptions...

Are you a subscription customer? if so download the Site Designer (formerly Eaglepoint Siteworks) and check if it can do that. There are certain things it can do, that might be of help to you

Autodesk Site Designer Extension for Revit 2015

after you install the manual is hidden here.

Topography which we model in Revit is actually surface & thus will not create any such tunnel void in it.

Recommendation is create floor(system family) with Revit Project & create Tunnel(wall/extrusion with void in it) in floor based family. Apply this to floor to see the void in floor.

Hope this helps:)

Is there a way to convert topography into floor ?

The problem is that i will have to create a lot of floor objects because the topography is quite complex...

Thanks!

No way to convert topography in floor.

You actually don't have to model too many floor, only one is enough.

You can adjust the elevation of floor my shape editing it will visible once you select floor & look in Modify.

Here is another way to look at it. Chad Close from Eagle Point Software helped me with this

Here is his answer to your question I asked him plus see the link he provided

Revit topographies are currently incapable of having internal voids. Site Designer automates the creation and modification of Revit toposurfaces and creates sidewalks, streets, and curbs that follow the toposurface but does not create anything that is not fully a Revit object.   Therefore Siteworks won't be capable of producing tunnels, either.

There are some general workarounds in Revit that some have attempted, but most have found that imported geometry from Civil 3d or another CAD package is normally the best route.

Thanks to all the suggestions .

I actually solved it in a much simpler way, with the add-in Dynamo .

Firstly I imported the topography to Dynamo. In Dynamo I create a mesh from the topography and then I create a surface from that mesh.

Then I create a big box that includes my surface (see attached images). Then I use the "split" node to break the box with the surface and separate the box and get the side i want so i will have a solid of my topography.

I import that solid to Revit and I put my building in it. Then I import everything to Dynamo and use the "difference" node to subtract the building to the topography. I get the topography with the tunnel 😉
