Creating PDF in Revit problem with solid regions not merging

When I create a PDF from the print command inside Revit Structure 2013 the preview shows correctly but the final output does not completely merge any solid regions that are screened lighter than black.  It will merge the text but not the actual model components.  I have searched high and low for a "merge" setting in Revit and Acrobat (Acrobat X Pro is the adobe version) and can't find anything that will change the outcome.

Is this a Revit thing or an Acrobat thing?  Anyone know how to correct it?

Thanks

To determine if the issue is related to Revit or Acrobat, try loading some other PDF software (e.g. CutePDF, Bluebeam, PDF995, etcetera) and then see if you get different results when printing to the different PDF producers.

If you get consistent results, then the issue is likely with Revit. If you see noticeable differences between the different PDF producers, then the issue is likely with Acrobat.

Also, if you have not already done so, try setting Raster Processing (in the Print Setup dialog).

This problem happens in the print preview, not just the PDF.

Trent, you said, "... This problem happens in the print preview, not just the PDF...."

That's not what you said in your first post.

What discipline is your view?  I've had problems with views that were in the Structural discipline.  Issues tended to clear up in Coordination discipline.  Also, did you try, as Lance offered, to plot with Raster processing?  Do you have the latest service pack installed.

Please report back on your issue(s); you're not the only one that's run into this problem.  The updated service pack and plotting in Raster processing seems to help our issues here.  Let us know!

Yes in my original post I did state that this occured while making a PDF.  But after further troubleshooting I realized that this occurs for any printer I print to weather it be a physical printer or a PDF.

I have discovered that in order for solid regions to merge with model elements in a print the Visual Style must be set to "Hidden Line" and the "Hidden Line View" in the print settings must be set to Vector.

I'm not sure if this is the way things are "supposed" to be set in order to merge solids, but it works for me and I'll leave it this way for now.  I wish it were more straight forward like how the AutoCAD plotter settings have the option to "Merge" or "Overlap" colors.  Probably because Revit is not color dependent like AutoCAD.

Anyway, problem solved or at least worked around.

Thanks for the attention!
