Creating parametric Rebar Shape annotation with Shared Parameters

Hi everybody,

I have been having some troubling trying to create a tag for rebar that show a symbol of the rebar type along with its relevant dimensions. I was hoping to have the symbol scale with the actual dimensions of the rebar type. I tried to do this by creating the tag family shown in the image below (Rebar tag family image 1).

The dimensions A and B are shared parameters. I exported these to our shared parameters file from the Rebar Shape family itself. The exported shared parameters were used both for the dimensioning of the symbol, as well as for the labels to the sides (A and B). The labels show the correct values, however the symbol does not adjust and keeps the standard values that were entered in the Rebar Tag. The second image (Rebar Tag result) show the result it gives me when trying to tag the rebar.

Does anyone know how I could make this work? I searched for alternatives to creating my own families with symbols but every option I found was linked to a paid (and costly) add-in.

Thanks,

Luis

Hi @luis_brionesalonso

Thanks for the question and images. Can you also upload the tag family so we can take a look at it? Thank you!

I can't imagine how it would work unless your views at full scale 1:1.

Hi @luis_brionesalonso

Rebar tags in Revit can read the value of parameters from the tagged element only through labels. There is no way for a parameter in a label to depend on a parameter of the tagged element and drive some geometry.

I recommend you add this to Revit Ideas.

I think it has applications in other disciplines as well.
