There are several methods for copying from one project to another:

  1. Open both files in the same session of revit. Then simply copy/paste from one to the other.
  2. Create a group of the objects to be copied. Save the group to a file. Import group into project.
  3. Link the model with objects to be copied into the main model. Then simply bind the link. The objects from the linked model are now native revit elements in the main model. Don't forget to remove the link after binding.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any clarification on any of the items. You should also be able to find youtube videos demonstrating each method mentioned above.

To fix the base point try the following:

  1. Set the base point in the main model.
  2. Open second model and link in main model.
  3. Acquire coordinates from linked model (found under the manage tab).
