Ceiling Panels

I have a compound ceiling which is made up of 1100mm wide panels. In a ceiling plan view, the light fittings are sitting on the join between 2 panels, but in the 3D view they are sitting in the centre of the panel width, away from the edges. Why would these 2 views be different?
