Cannot link dwg - solution

I realised today that you cannot link dwg version 2018 to Revit 2017 (I haven't tried different combinations). I was getting error messages: "some elements were lost during import..." and then "import detected no valid elements in model space...". I tried all possible solutions I found on forums and none worked. Then I tried to save it back to lower dwg version and it works. 

Maybe it will help someone in the future.

Thanks for sharing your findings with the Revit community! I'm sure it will help other Revit Professionals like yourself who may experience a similar issue.
