Can't get elements to show in medium detail

I am having difficulty getting some of my beams and columns to show in medium detail. I have determined that the only elements with this issue are those with a Structural Connection attached. I am working with Revit 2017.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Steel connection components only show in Fine detail Level.  Change your views to Fine and override any categories you want to show in Medium in VG.

Thanks Toan.

I already tried that, but unfortunately it doesn't solve my problem. The structural columns and framing still show only in fine detail.

Only when every structural connection attached to the element is deleted, does it show in medium detail.

Thanks A_MAQ.

I tried your suggestion, and it partly solved my problem.

If I change the visibility settings in the family, I can force everything to show as medium detail in my 3D view. However, this affects how my details show.

I could swap which shape in the family shows in fine and which in medium, but I would prefer to avoid this, as it will get confusing down the line - "fine detail" actually referring to medium detail, and visa versa.

The picture on the left shows a column and beam with connections attached, and a column without.

The view is set to "fine detail", but they appear differently.

The second picture shows the same beam and columns, but with the connections deleted. The view is still set to "fine detail", and they appear the same.

I want my elements to show as fine detail when view is set to "fine detail", whether structural connection is attached or not.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Hi @Anonymous

Do you have sample model that you can share?

First screenshot looks like in detail level, but second screenshot seems in medium? Presentation should be the same with or without connection by right. Please feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Thank you,

Thanks Yuri.

I have realised that I made a mistake in my previous comment. Both of those images are in fact "medium detail", not "fine detail" as I incorrectly stated. Sorry about the confusion.

I believe that attaching a structural connection to a beam, or column, forces that member to display as "fine detail", even if the view is set to "medium detail".

(Sorry about the file size. I already cleaned the file, but it still sits at 3MB Smiley Embarassed)

it's all about visibility setting , it's not related to connection attaching

in column structural family there is two parts of column one is for fine detail and the other is for coarse and medium details

here is how to set that
