Beam/Joist Offset Elevations

Is there a way to essentially pin the elevations of beams/joists? I have all my joist pinned so they can't move in plan view. The joists have a start and end level offset. When I change the size of these joists they randomly change their offset elevation.

I have had this problem before and don't know if there is a fix to prevent this.
