Baseplate/Column/Brace Steel Connection

I am trying to create a (simple) Baseplate/Column/Brace connection.  I have already applied a simple baseplate to a column.  I want to use the Tube connection with sandwich plates - additional object.  In theory this should work but it doesn't.  I have tested the same connection with a beam instead of a baseplate and that does work.  We are trying to replicate a connection across RSA, RVT and AS.  The import from Advance Steel via smlx doesn't work either - it crashes Revit.

Any ideas?

Not sure why it does not work, my assumption is it needs to be an additional part that's not part of a connection. Have you tried any of the other tub connvetions and just edit the properties so that it terminated on or at the base plate?
