Automate Export to DWG

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

For coordination with other autocad products on projects I currently export to dwg a set of 3d views to a folder with a prefix  for each of the files created (each view is a different structure in the revit model)

Is there any way to automate this process?

Cheers,

Richard

This would mean writing an add-in, look for an app or using Dynamo.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Cheers, I figured as much but I would have thought that I'm not the first person to try and achieve this, was hopping there was a method already available. Searching only seems to show methods to automate schedule exports.

I was hoping it would be as simple as using task scheduler to run a script similar to how the navisworks batch exporting works.

How would you like to automate the process

- make a set of views

- export -> dwg

- select set

- select export setup

- next

- select naming: Automatic - Long (Specify prefix)  and ok

Thats pretty much spot on awes, I made the set in the print section and called it 'Plant Coordination Set', the prefix would be 'Revit', the only other thing is trying to path the outputs to a specific folder , at the moment it defaults to my 'Documents' folder on my C: drive

Not sure if there is a question but you can select a folder before exporting to DWG.

Hi Rich0,

Have you ever found an answer on how to automate this process? I have  the same issue here, lots of different projects needing to be exported to dwg. I am currently working on scripts to optimize a lot of different tasks but didn't get to this one yet, have you found anything useful?
